In Her Shoes Review

In this romantic-comedy, Toni Collette and Cameron Diaz star as two sisters that are in the midst of changing their lives via shoes, mostly Collette’s. From dads, to mothers to friends, the amount of personalities in this film is amazing and relatable and you will enjoy this movie. “In Her Shoes” shows us how it’s never too late to find yourself and how to forgive one another. Ah, my sister has over 100 pairs of shoes, but dang she’s a size 7; can you say shoe-a-holic?

Shirley MacLaine plays a brilliant and smart role in this film. What’s brilliant and genius is Diaz’s character staying in a retirement village. I mean come on; there are daily meals, a pool, activities and an endless amount of walking history. As for Richard Burgi, you know that whenever you see this tall, muscle of a man, that trouble will always follow. Whether it’s film or television, Burgi usually plays the role of a jerk. I do not miss him in “Desperate Housewives” either. Oh, that reminds me, this movie features a Caribbean restaurant, called “The Jerk Hut”. Speaking of jerk, I need to go marinade my jerk chicken wings and yes, there will be peppers.

What I got from this movie is to love yourself and forgive your family. Speaking of love, Mark Feuerstein is so lovable that you just have to eat him up. He’s a man that knows what he wants… ok never mind he’s just a movie character, but I still like him.

I really like “In Her Shoes” because it uses many different characters along with animals to tell us a story. The dialogues throughout this film are witty, strong, and peppered throughout the movie. My most favorite line is said by Cameron as she converses with a retirement village resident, Francine Beers, “What were you thinking going to the mall? You know the mall is for young people, people with teeth.”

There is one about “Honey Bun”, a mixed breed pooch that will show you why rescuing a pet from shelters brings about many rewards. Who can resist a short-legged cute dog? Oh, there’s a corgi along with the other breeds of dogs in a few scenes. Corgis are the cutest. No offense to Honey Bun. You’re cute too.

The featurette of the retirement village home in Florida is delightful. The seniors really enjoyed making this film and it goes to show you that age is just a number and that we can all act. Now let’s act and find some Ben-gay my knees are throbbing, ah I think that means snow is coming.
