“You know a lot of people say that college is a time when young men and women expand the way that they look at their world when they open their mind to new ideas and experiences and when they begin that long journey form the innocence of Youth, to the responsibilities of Adulthood… now isn’t that a load of horse s***! AHAHAHAHA!” Lewis Black in Accepted

Ah, that time in a young persons life when it all comes together and they set off for college. Its supposed to be the greatest time in ones life…right?…

I love what this movie has to say. In the world today it is almost, no not almost, it is, socially unacceptable for a young person not to go to college and get a degree. What a load of B.S. You have to think this way, talk that way, study this to get a degree in that. Plus lets not forget the almost painstaking task of getting all the knowledge your not going to remember in 5 years anyway paid for.

This movie is definitely for those who see the traditional 4 year college/university as a time wasting, money sucking, ‘why the hell am I studying Ancient Roman History when I want a degree in Broadcasting?’ way of life.

In this movie we see 5 fresh out of high school kids embark down that oh so well known road to college. The only thing is, not one of them got accepted anywhere. So they do what any home grown, All-American kids would do, they make up and open a college of their very own. Or so they think.

After manipulating all their parents into letting them be S.H.I.T Heads…(South Harmon Institute of Technology) they find the perfect home for their brilliant plan. The old psychiatric hospital. Splash on a little paint, do a little house keeping, and BAM! A college right out of a broacher! Its perfect! They even had the acceptance letters and website down to a science. All up to the Acceptance Is Only A Click Away button….

A day into their newly generated freedom they get a little more then they bargained for, a front yard full of eager students who took full advantage of the Acceptance Is Only A Click Away button. And again with the fantastic decision making skills, they let them all stay.

It is actually working quite well for the young entrepreneurs, as they have actually accomplished getting away with this faulty college. I must say though, one of my favorite parts of the movie is when they go around and ask all the kids what they want to learn. They write it all on a huge white board in one of the hallways and start classes up. A personal favorite of mine was, Men, The Weaker Sex.

It all comes crashing to a halt however when the actual University of the town finds out about them. A huge debacle erupts and they are summand to appear in front of the accreditation board. I don’t want to give to much more of the movie away however because this is a film I highly recommend you see as soon as possible. The points and statements that are brought up will have you sitting in your living rooms actually agreeing with everything being said.

The comedic performances in this movie are incomparable. You have the improve ingenuousness of the likes of Lewis Black, Justin Long, and Jonah Hill. You’ll laugh so hard you will cry. My friends and I actually use quotes from this movie on almost a daily basis.

So with that being said…

“I’m gonna go enjoy my wad now!” Justin Long in Accepted
