**Spoilers Herein**

In the quiet town of Verplank, NY, nothing seems taboo. The car of choice seems to be the Yugo and the lawnscapers seem to out number the lawns. Nothing can upset this quaint little town. Not even when well known Mona Dearly, played by Bette Midler, careens off a bridge to a watery grave.

News spreads through the town like wild fire, yet no one even blinks an eye. It almost seems as if everyone is relieved Mona is gone.

This suicide quickly turns into a murder investigation after the local mechanic finds that the car Mona was driving had been, ’set to kill’. The break lines had been cut and all the break fluid drained.

Now it is a who done it. As the sheriff (Danny DeVito) starts to interview all the town folk it starts to become clear that every one had motive to kill poor Mona Dearly.

Not from the movie in question, we’re just firm believers in Doing the Right Thing.

When all seems hopeless young Bobby (Casey Affleck) unwittingly confesses to his fiance, Ellen (Neve Campbell) that it was indeed him who killed Mona. Yet he did not mean to.

His murder of the car was in fact intended for Mona’s son and his business partner, Jeff Dearly (Marcus Thomas).

In the confusion of everything Mona’s husband, Phil Dearly (William Fichtner) is found dead in the river. Again what looks like a suicide has turned into cold blooded murder.

As everything comes to a head, it turns out the Ol’ Fisherman by the river is responsible for Mr. Dearly’s death. Bobby gets off the hook as his fiance is the sheriff’s one and only daughter and the Sheriff will do anything to see her get married.

So once again the quaint little town of Verplank is back to its normal quiet self.
